The burial ceremony of Barr. Deacon Emeritus Stephen Ejueyitsi Aganbi commenced on Friday May 8, 2020 at his Country Home, Canaan Land, Koko with a burning fire.
According to the Eldest son of Baba, Mr. Tunde Aganbi, the burning fire signifies the commencement of Papa’s Funeral and also the opening of Canaan land to the public.
He said "Canaan Land is a place that was founded by Pa. S.E. Aganbi, it is an healing centre. The land cured Papa of an ailment that would have cost him his life at an early stage in life. Papa lived and became the Olare-Aja of the Community, in a Land where he was threatened by an ailment as a child".
"Amongst other beautiful endowment of life for relaxation, Canaan land is a home away from home, bringing you to the natural existence of human in an African style." He further stated.
The children of Papa have unanimously agreed to make Canaan Land a monumental park open to all, featuring a Mini-gulf Centre of nine holes, Indoor and outdoor sports such as table tennis, massage centre, lounge, swimming pool, hotel and resorts.
The burning fire in the morning was preceded in the evening with a quiet and short Service of Songs in honour of Papa.
The remains of late Pa. Aganbi was finally laid to rest in Canaan Land the following day, Saturday May 9, 2020 after a Funeral Service.
Late Barr. Deacon Emeretus S.E. Aganbi was born December 10, 1921 and passed on to eternal glory on Thursday March 19, 2020 at the ripe age of 99.
It would be recalled that Late Pa. S.E. Aganbi a legal luminary and a politician par excellence was a champion of Itsekiri cause.
He was in the forefront of the campaign for National Development and Advancement of the Itsekiri people.
Above all, Papa was a devout Christian. He was chairman of the Itsekiri Bible Translation Project which completed and published the Itsekiri Bible in 1978. He was a man of integrity, high principles and a role model for many.
Papa is survived by many Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and numerous relatives.
