                                                RE:UGBAJO ITSEKIRI ASSOCIATION USA INC.
CEASE AND DESIST LETTER

Dear Messrs Etchie, Nwosu and Omatete;
Please be advised that our office has been retained by the above named association, regarding your unauthorized and illegal action in parading yourselves as Officers of the Association.

It has come to our attention, that Ogbemi Omatete, purportedly acting as Patron of the Association convened a so called virtual convention of the Association on January 16, 2021. At that virtual convention, Toju Etchie was allegedly elected as President of the Association and Oti Uku Nwosu as Secretary. Since that date, you have been parading yourselves as the duly elected and authorised officers of the Association. In furtherance of your illicit activities, you falsely represented to Bank of America that you have been elected as new officers of the Association and signatories to its bank account.

Through this falsehood, you gained access to the Association’s bank account and immediately withdrew over $157,000.00 of the Associations monies which you have converted to your personal use.

The so called virtual convention that was convened by Ogbemi Omatete, and the purported elections of officer, is in direct contravention of the Constitution of the Association and does not confer on you any authority to act as officers of, and on behalf of the Association. Article VI(A)(1) of the Association’s constitution mandates that elections are to be held at the Association’s National Convention, while Article VII(6) stipulates that the National Convention is held on Labor day Weekend in the year the
convention holds. The so called election was neither held at a National Convention, nor was a National Convention held on labor day weekend 2020.

Aside from the constitutional violation noted above, any action taken by you did not have the support, approval and or a quiescence of the general body constituting the Association. To the contrary, several of the regional bodies had expressly dissociated themselves from your attempt to convene a virtual convention and hold any non in person election. These regional bodies include but are not limited to Itsekiri Association of Chicago, Oma Iwere of Florida, Uranran Iwere Itsekiri Association of Georgia, Oma-Iwere NY/NJ, Agura Iwere of Dallas, Tx., Southern California Itsekiri Cultural Association and INA-WB.

You are hereby demanded to cease and desist from holding yourselves out as officers of the Association, and from transacting any business on behalf of th Association. A criminal complaint has already been lodged regarding your activities and theft of the funds belonging to the Association. Your failure to abide by this cease and desist demand will result in further civil and criminal proceedings against you.

The Association reserves any and all remedies which it has against you regarding your illicit and illegal activities.

Very truly yours
Ogochukwu Victor Onwaeze, Esq.

By Tetsoma Neyin

Itsekiri Strategy Working Group, has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to upgrade the renowned College of Education Warri to an autonomous University.

A statement made available to newsmen recently in Warri and signed by Engr. Gbesimi Akperi said that since the creation of Delta State, no tertiary institution has been established in Warri by any of the state government, adding that Governor Okowa should use this opportunity to write his name in gold in the hearts of the good people of Warri South where the school is located.

"We call on the Governor to upgrade the College of Education, Warri to a full fledged University to redress the injustice of the past," he said.

"Your Excellency, you must not do anything to kill all that we have  brought into the union of Delta State. We in Warri will always remember Prof. Ambrose Alli for giving us College of Education, Warri. What will you be remembered for?", the group asked.

" The College of Education, Warri was created by the Bendel State Government of Prof. Ambrose Alli in 1979 along with that in Agbor and Igueben. Since that time and throughout the life of Delta State till date, no tertiary institution has been established in Warri (Warri South LGA)," he said.

" Many tertiary institutions have been created in the state with none in Warri. The College of Education Abraka was upgraded to Delta State University with campuses created in Senatorial districts. Oleh campus for South and Anwai campus for North Senatorial Districts. In this exercise, Warri, the commercial capital of the State which is the main source of the revenue Delta State was left out", he said.

" Polytechnics were created in Oghara, Ogwashi-Uku and Ozoro, Warri was conspicuously left out. There is also College of Physical Education, Mosogar, Warri is left out in all these creation." he further stated.
