By Tetsoma Neyin
Contractors under the aegis of Itsekiri Rebuilding Contractors have apealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to use his good office to consider paying their balance payment for the execution of a successful project.
The Contractors who stated that they have completed rebuilding projects of burnt Communities also praised the Governor for executing different projects for the development of the State.
The group stated that the project was approved by Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan who made part payment for the commencement of the building project during his second tenure in office.
The aggrieved unpaid contractors made this passionate appeal to Governor Okowa in a Press briefing held in Warri recently.
Mr. Emmanuel Mene who spoke on behalf of the group said that "We use this medium to draw you attention to our plight which has lingered on for a long time now. It was Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan who released funds that kick started the rebuilding of some of the houses burnt down by Ijaw Militias July 2 2013 at Aja-Amita, Ebrohimi, Gbokoda, Obaghoro and Tebu Communities in ward 2 as well as Eghoro (ward 4) in Warri North LGA".
He went further to state that "while we thank our amiable governor for taking up all other issues concerning this matter, we appeal to your Excellency to give approval through DESOPADEC for the release of the balance payment to all Contractors who completed their building in these Communities",
"It would be recalled that these houses were burnt down by the Ijaw Militias July 2, 2013 when the Ijaws were demanding for PDP Chairmanship position in Warri North. Now that they have been given the position, we appeal to the listening Governor to kindly pay all the Contractors who built these houses". he stated.
The Contractors yet to be paid their balance are; Jelmas International Ltd, Gbemitsuli Oil & Gas Nig. Ltd, Oneritsebawo Nig. Ltd, Simaik & Co Ltd, Bemitosan Company, Vicned Global Services Ltd, Tremob Nig., Ogbara Ventures and Fresh Angle Nig. Ltd.
