PRESS RELEASE: YOU CANNOT FORCE A WILLING EMPLOYEE ON AN UNWILLING EMPLOYER - ITSEKIRI YOUTH LEADERS FUME

PRESS RELEASE:

YOU CANNOT FORCE A WILLING EMPLOYEE ON AN UNWILLING EMPLOYER - ITSEKIRI YOUTH LEADERS FUME

After a thorough review of all the latest happenings in Warri kingdom, vis-a-vis the renewed trend of sacrilege and anagonism against the prestigious throne of Warri Kingdom by some unscrupulous elements, the Leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) led by Comrade Weyinmi  Isaac Agbateyiniro in a well attended meeting held on Saturday October 16, 2021 with all  Youth Presidents of all Itsekiri's indegenous communities from both Delta and Edo States as well as Media influencers, the following resolutions were reached and agreed to be issued out to the public after a motion was moved by Comrade Henry Olley, Youth President of Gbokoda Community and Seconded by Comrade Abraham Oporu, Youth President of Orere Uluba Community in Warri South Local Government Area in this regard.

1. it is uncustomary, untraditional, uncultural and unafrican for any Itsekiri no matter how highly placed to be seen or heard discrediting the throne by whatever means. Accordingly, it was resolved that all the youth Executives of all Itsekiri Communities should immediately put machineries in place to resist a repetition of such and where such had existed, redress them.

2. That  since you cannot force a willing employee on an unwilling employer, the proclamation of Ogiame Atuwatse III on the 5th of October, 2021 wherein the now former Ologbotsere of Warri kingdom was derobed, remains sacrosanct. The Olu of Warri by all Itsekiri customary and traditional requirements reserves the exclusive  possessive rights of all chieftaincy titles in Warri kingdom. Accordingly, it is his exclusive perogative to give, take, suspend, reinstate derobes, affirm and re-affirm. No one contend same with him.
Afomasin!!! Ogbowuru!!! Ekun!!!          We forthwith call on all Itsekiri sons and daughters, old and young, far and near to treat the proclamation with all the seriousness it deserves.

3. All Itsekiri Communities and various Organs of Itsekiri National Youth Council have been accordingly directed to put relevant  machineries in place to uphold same and invoke conconmitant disciplinary measures on any erring sons and daughters of Warri kingdom.

4. That this  August meeting view with consternation the deployment of various social media tools by some unscrupulous sons and daughters of Warri kingdom to undermine the corporate prestige of the throne and accordingly, request forthwith that all parents and guidians should call their wards to order as it will no longer be fashionable in the days ahead to feign ignorance of these actions and inactions of our wards  only to jump in later and ask for forgiveness.

5. The meeting also resolved that any further disrespect to the throne shall be considered as an affront against the entire  Itsekiri people and shall be meted with the stiffest resistance.

PRESS RELEASE, UGBAJO ITSEKIRI USA

                PRESS RELEASE
                October 11, 2021

        UGBAJO ITSEKIRI USA

The President and Board of Directors of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA hereby inform members of the Association and the general public of recent events pertaining to the Association which has since resulted in litigation and currently awaiting hearing in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia-Civil Division.

In preamble, on or about January, 2021, some disgruntled members of the association held a sham virtual election in which they allocated positions to themselves without following due process and contrary to the constitution and bye-laws of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA.  This brazen act did not stop with the illegal elections but these renegades subsequently paraded themselves as officers of the Association and went on to steal the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Dollars ($157,000) from the Bank of America account of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA- money which remains unaccounted for to this day.

To date, the renegade group have done everything possible to sabotage our association causing immeasurable damage including  taking legal action to prevent -the recently concluded  and very successful- annual conference in Dallas from taking place; circulating highly flammable, slanderous and scandalous  lies against the previous past President, Mr. Kingsley Onuwaje and furthermore,  filing a frivolous law suit against  Mr. Onuwaje as President of the association in their desperation to tarnish his name.

That we have shown restraint despite the levels of provocation and the theft of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA funds is not a sign of weakness but our belief in settling these issues in house and as a mark of respect for Ogiame Atuwatse III. But circumstances have forced us to respond to the aforementioned suit filed by this group and   as such, Ugbajo Itsekiri USA is countersuing the following parties: Toju Etchie, Oti Nwosu, Felix Asagba, Ogbemi Omatete, Mac E-Nunu, Eyisan Omagbemi with Bank of America as Co-defendants under the following counts:
COUNT 1- FRAUD & DECEIT
COUNT 2- UNJUST ENRICHMENT
COUNT 3 - CONSTRUCTIVE FRAUD
COUNT 4 - ACCOUNTING FRAUD
COUNT 5 – BREACH OF FIDUCIARY DUTY
COUNT 6 – TORTIOUS INTERFERENCE WITH CONTRACTUAL RELATIONS
COUNT 7 – CIVIL CONSPIRACY
COUNT 8 – DECLARATORY ACTION

Ugbajo Itsekiri USA is not only seeking the return of the One Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Dollars ($157,000) but in addition, we are also seeking compensatory damages, consequential damages and Five Hundred Thousand ($500,000.00) in punitive damages, plus interest, attorneys’ fees, the cost of this action, and any and all other relief the court may deem fit.

We will not comment any further on this issue as the matter is currently subjudice.  But we would like to thank all members of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA and all our well-wishers for their support and encouragement through these very difficult and challenging times.  We have no doubt whatsoever that justice shall prevail.

Signed,

JEMINE OKOTIE-YESIN
President
