Delta Publishers Expresses Confidence in Tompolo, hails NNPC over surveillance job

Media Executives in Delta State under the aegis of Delta Guild of Indigenous Newspaper Publishers, DGINP, has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, on the Pipeline Surveillance Contract awarded to Chief Government Ekpemupolo, saying it would go a long way in ensuring security of the waterways for maximum output of oil production in the country.

The Guild, which prides itself as an exclusive group of selected, respected, matured and responsible publishers of Community-based Newspapers/Magazines in Delta State, made the position known in a statement, which was signed by its President, Mr. Femi Odonmeta who is the publisher of Warri Voice Newspaper and the Secretary, Chief Daniel Ekiugbo, the publisher of Ughelli Times Magazine.

According to the Guild, it was thoughtful of the NNPC to take that step, which is in the right direction by finding Chief Ekpemupolo's company worthy to be considered for the crucial and essential duty of protecting oil facilities and installations across the areas that have hitherto been bedeviled by vandalism owing to lack of proper security arrangements.

While describing Chief Ekpemupolo as a critical stakeholder who has been displaying unwavering commitment to the development of the oil-rich but impoverished Niger Delta region in general and the oil producing communities and their people in particular, DGINP emphasized that the official engagement of his company for the surveillance job opens another window for him to display his commitment to both the people and government.

The Guild assured of it's determination to play it's expected role of ensuring positive publicity as well as it's oversight functions of monitoring developments towards ensuring the overall success of the job given to Chief Ekpemupolo.

Meanwhile, the Guild has however called on the people of the region, especially those floating agitations against the surveillance job given to Chief Ekpemupolo to sheathe their swords, and find ways of joining hands with him towards ensuring that oil facilities and installations across the region are protected, which is the paramount thing.

The cautioned that while it is normal for people to feel aggrieved over trending development and try to vent their anger in any manner, it was also imperative for those who feel otherwise about the surveillance job given to Chief Ekpemupolo to seek alternative means of resolving whatever differences they may be having, rather than calling for the cancellation or withdrawal of the contract already awarded.

The Guild, which congratulated Chief Ekpemupolo over the surveillance job awarded to him, expressed optimism in working closely with him, while describing him as a true Niger Deltan patriot who has the capacity to deliver on the assignment given to him.
