Iwere Women Prayer Network, an initiative of her Majesty, Olori Atuwatse III, and backed up by wives of Chiefs from Warri kingdom has put together a one day prayer retreat for God to destroy territorial powers holding the land captive.

The one day prayer quarterly retreat with the theme  “Triumphing over territorial powers” which was held on Wednesday  October 19, 2022 at the Olu’s Palace(Aghofen) Warri, had in attendance prominent Itsekiri women as well as other tribes from within the three Warri Local Government Areas.

In her opening remarks at the we
ll attended retreat, the Coordinator of the programme, Bishop (Mrs.) Juliet Olley thanked Olori Atuwatse III for gathering the Iwere women to intercede for the prosperity of Warri kingdom, even as he appreciated the praying women for always coming out enmasse to pray for the land.

 



Bishop Olley also used the opportunity to formally congratulate. His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri for his well deserved conferment with the prestigious National honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja recently, saying that Warri kingdom would not have asked for a better Monarch like Ogiame Atuwatse III who has been a channel of blessing to the Itsekiri people.

 


 

Guest speaker of the event, Bishop  God’s evidencene Awadasenoritse who took his sermon from the book of Exodus 12 verse 13 declared that family negative patterns does not break, rather, it is God that lift His children from that family long age pattern when they call upon God in prayers.

 

Bishop Awadasenoritse who took the women through rounds of powerful deliverance prayers for the land and the throne said that the blood of Jesus brings the totality of divinity to humanity for the liberation of man.

 

Warri Voice Newspaper can state authoritatively that the retreat which was attended by hundreds of women was also used to enlightened women on the need to stay healthy at all times because health is wealth.

The Delta South Senatorial Candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (Rtd) has visited flood victims at Igbide and Ofagbe Communities in Isoko South and Isoko North Local Government Areas respectively to cushion the effects of the flooding on them by donating relief materials to the flood victims.

 

Some of the items donated to the flood victims includes, bags of garri, bags of rice, loaves of bread, tuber of yams, sugar, bags of salt, indomie noodles, spaghetti, detergents and toiletries, onion and pepper pastes, biscuits and power oil.

 

Addressing newsmen, Commodore Omatseye Nesiama urged politicians and well meaning individuals to put politics aside irrespective of the political affiliation and render help to the flood victims who are suffering.

 


Commodore Nesiama who was flanked by the NNPP Delta State House of Assembly Candidate, Isoko North Constituency, Dr. Daniel Uroghome also called on the Federal ànd Delta State Governments to immediately put in measures at mitigating the perennial flood as well as its effect on the people.

 

According to the Commodore of Hope, “The people should find succor. People should be able to eat, get shelter, IDP camp should be opened for free,” just as he  expressed shock at the level of damage the flood has caused the people in the two communities.

 

He averred: “The magnitude of this flood, I do not know, as it did not get to me until I got to this place to see for myself. I was on my way to Igbide to sympathize with the people.

Unfortunately, as you can see for yourself, that we could not drive through this water. This is a main road, it is not a pathway, and we could not drive through. The chairman of the party have to come through with canoe to get here and we have been advised clearly that we can not get there with vehicle.

 


“That even with the boat it will take us two hours to get there because there are no speed boat, it has to be paddle. And we have things that we want to give to those people in distress.”

 

Delta State NNPP Chairman,Chief Friday Efetobor who received the relief materials on behalf of Igbide people, called on the Federal and State Government to come to their rescue.”We need help from them. We need rescue now. You can see my village people, they are here.”

 

Chief Efetobor appreciated Commodore Omatseye Nesiama for the donations of the relief materials to the people who were ravaged by flood.

 

“So, let me appreciate the incoming senator at least your message will get to my people in my village, I want to appreciate you so much. Thank you very much for your rescue, God bless you.”

 

Two of the flood victims from Ofagbe Community, Baby Oviemuno and Bright Atara also appreciated Commodore Omatseye Nesiama for the donation of the relief materials to them.

 

They said the flood wrecked havoc in the community stressing virtually all buildings and farm lands were destroyed living them in hunger and have relocated from their homes like many others.

 

The Chairman of Ofagbe Community, Alhaji Musa Bob Oviemuno who received the relief materials from Commodore Omatseye Nesiama said many buildings in their community were submerged by the flood.

 

The NYSC Corpers lodge, Gospel Church of Christ, Oketa mixed Grammar School and the Ofagbe District Customary Court were amongst buildings completely submerged.

 

Alhaji Oviemuno who was flanked by the Vigilante Chairman of Ofagbe Community, Onyema Jerry also appreciated Commodore Nesiama and his entourage for their visit as well as the donation of the relief materials to the flood victims in their Community.

 

The Ebe Primary School in Ovrode Community, a nearby community leading to Ofagbe was also swallowed by the ravaging flood as accessing the Communities is with the use of speed boats which costs one thousand naira per passenger.

Hussey College Old students Association, United Kingdom branch has given back to her Alma-mater by donating  one hundred and twenty students seats to boost the educational standard of the school, an event which took place on Wednesday September 28, 2022.

Representative of U.K chapter of the noble Association, Akpasubi Benjamin who also doubles as the National Secretary of  the Association, while presenting the students seat to the school, appealed to the school authority to make good use of the seats.



Responding, Principal of Hussey Model College Warri, Mrs. Justina Wategire appreciated the U.K Chapter of the Association for always giving back to the school.


"I really appreciate them for giving us 120 students seats. They have been doing much actually, but this one, I am very grateful", She said.


Mrs. Wategire further appealed to the alumni body to assist in elevating the assembly ground of the school which is always flooded with water due to heavy downpour of rain so that the students can observed their assembly time even when it rains.


Speaking in the same vein, Head Boy of the school, Uweh Godstime who spoke on behalf of the other students thanked their predecessors for their kind gesture, just as he appealed for more projects that will boost learning environment of the school.



It will be recalled that the President of the United Kingdom chapter of the school, Kenneth Omoijate Okoh and his Secretary, Anthony Yekovie paid a visit to the school early this year and saw the need for pupils to have desk and chairs for many classes in order to write their  examination comfortably.


They were saddened to see that the State Government has not developed the school as a Model school as planned and hope that this will be remedied soon and called upon Hussey College Old students Association National Body to work with the state to ensure that the noble school becomes the great school it should be once again.



In a telephone chat with Warri Voice Newspaper, President of UK branch of the association, Kenneth Omoijate Okoh who spoke on behalf of other Executives and entire members advised Pupils to read and study hard to obtain good results and imbibe a culture of maintenance of gifts donated to them and the school and hoped that the donated chairs and desk along with the repairs of the floors in the boys hostel will assist the school immensely.

 



“Under the giving back project of the association in the UK, I and my Executives as well as the members, raised funds towards this laudable project”, he averred.


Warri Voice Newspaper can state authoritatively that both the teachers and students of Hussey Model College were overjoyed to receive the students seats from the alumni body.
